Have you experienced the death of your spouse or a child in the last 6 weeks?
If you answered “yes” and you are willing to share your experiences for research, we hope you would consider participating in a study by Dr. Mary-Frances O’Connor on the effects of aspirin in bereavement. The death of loved one is very stressful, and in some individuals, their heart may be temporarily affected. We are looking for individuals who have experienced a loss to take part in a study on the effects of aspirin on the grief and cardiovascular response in bereaved people. During this study participants will complete a survey about their emotions, relationships, health and demographics at a visit to our U of A lab. Participants will be asked to take a normal dose of over-the-counter aspirin or placebo on 5 consecutive days. Participants will also come to a second lab session at U of A where physiological measures such as heart rate and blood pressure will be measured and blood and saliva samples will be taken. Monetary compensation will be provided. If you are interested in participating in this study, please contact Sebastian Karl at 520-626-5383 or 1-877-518-4630 or sebastiankarl@email.arizona.edu An Institutional Review Board responsible for human subjects research at The University of Arizona reviewed this research project and found it to be acceptable. This means that it is acceptable according to applicable state and federal regulations and University policies designed to protect the rights and welfare of participants in research. |
